I just got in a shipment of pants from Geoffrey Beene. These are great pants that have the hidden side elastic and cuffs. They are named the Performance Trouser and are wrinkle resistant with a stain protection finish. I got in khaki, navy, and black from 44 to 60 waist.

I just got in a shipment of Perry Suspenders. These are the type that clip onto your belt, and they have become our best selling style. I got in solids, dress stripes, flags, and even some Santa/Christmas prints.

Falcon Bay All-Elastic Pants

I just got in 4 boxes of Falcon Bay full elastic waist pants. These pants have belt loops and a zipper fly, and are very comfortable. I got in khaki, olive, navy, black, and denim from 42 waist up to 72 waist.

Camel Hair Blazer

I just got in a great looking Camel Hair blazer that I special ordered for a customer. Camel Hair is a great natural material that will keep you warm in cold weather, and the color is a nice alternative to the standard blacks, blues, and greys that everybody wears. These coats are made by Hardwick Clothes, and are all Made in the USA!! They can be hard to find, but I can special order any size -- regulars and big and talls!!

Zip-Out Liner Jackets

I just got in a shipment of zip-out liner jackets from Falcon Bay. These can be used both as a light weight jacket and a heavyweight jacket. They come in a few different colors and styles, and go from XL Tall to 6X Tall, and 2X Big to 6X Big. These will keep you warm!

I just got in a shipment of Wrangler Riggs short sleeve pocket T-shirts in pink. These shirts have the pink ribbon embroidery, and for each shirt sold, Wrangler will donate $1.50 to Breast Cancer Awareness. Chicks dig guys who wear pink!!

Check your Dockers!!

Check out the style number in your Dockers pants. We just found out that Dockers is discontinuing these style numbers -- 40443, 41443, 40581, and 41581 -- all colors and all sizes. Of course, these are the two of the three main styles that I have carried for decades. I just got in a big shipment of the 40443 and 41443, but it was only about half of what I ordered, so I called them to find out why, and they told me about being discontinued and that I very well may never get any more in. They are coming out with newer styles for 2010, but if you wear these pants, you may want to get them before they are gone!!

Holiday Hours

What a great Thanksgiving weekend, and what a GREAT UGA GAME!! But, now it's back to work, and the holiday season is upon us. From today until Christmas Day, we are open 7 days a week, so we have added Sunday, December 5, 12, and 19 from 12:30pm to 4:00pm, in addition to our normal Monday to Saturday hours. Thermal Underwear

It's going to be cold tonight!! Good thing I just got in a big shipment of thermal underwear!! I have a full selection of of tops from 2X Big to 6X Big and XL Tall to 4X Tall, and also pants from 2X to 8X, and Large Tall to 4X Tall. Almost all of them are the off-white color, but I have a few tops that are camo.

Leather Care Tips

As cold weather is upon us, the leather coats begin to emerge out of our closets, or maybe you need to buy a new one? (hint, hint) Customers often ask me about how to care for their leather, so I borrowed this article on tips for leather care:

Whenever you buy leather, you should pick up a protective leather spray and leather lotion. The first thing you should do when you get home is spray your new item. Avoid anything that has silicone or wax, since these ingredients will break down the natural oils in the leather. It's best to use the spray when your leather is new, but you can also apply it after you've owned the product for a while so it's protected for future use. Other care tips of note:

• You should use lotion only on smooth leather.
• Always test a product in a hidden area before using.
• Avoid cleaning fluid, shoe cream, saddle soap, and mink oil because they may damage the leather.
• Use leather lotion every three months or as needed, and follow up with a protective spray.
• For serious stains, visit a professional leather cleaner
• Use wood or wide plastic hangers to help maintain the shape of the item.
• Store it in a breathable bag or covering (plastic will cause excessive drying).

Just follow these easy tips, and your leather will stay looking its best for years to come.

I have been busy the last few days creating two different websites for Solaris Heart & Vascular, one of my good medical offices, for their employees to order their scrubs and uniforms directly from me online on an e-commerce site. Some of the gadgets that I worked with might be used to upgrade this site, so I am still looking into the logistics of using them. Wow!! What a list!! I tried very hard to refrain making comments on the teams that are ugly and make my head hurt... The colors available for each team varies mostly based upon the school colors, like UGA scrubs are available in red or black, as in the picture, Florida is available in royal blue or orange, and so on. The UGA scrubs were a huge seller for me last season, so please let me know if you need any this season, or if I can order any other teams for you. It looks to be a great football season!!

Dawgs and Action Slacks

How 'Bout Them Dawgs... I was camping this weekend with my son, so I had to listen on a radio. I think that was a good thing, because if I had watched it on TV, I probably would have busted my head open. A win is a win, so I'll take it, ugly or not. And how big was that blocked PAT? That kept us out of overtime, although I think we had a pretty good chance in overtime because our red zone defense was obviously pretty solid.

Ugh...

Yeah, that sucked... I sure hope Cox was still sick, so that was not his best game. If that was his best, then it's going to be a long season. I think (hopefully) we may be seeing more of Logan Gray before too long. If our receivers had been about one foot taller, Cox's passes may have been caught. It seemed that his passes were mostly about one foot away from where the receivers could catch them. And how did OK State have three defenders around our receivers every time a pass was thrown? And was I the only one that thought that Richt was conceding the game when he punted with six minutes left in the game and down by two scores? I think you have to go for it at that point. But hey, I'm not the coach -- I was just sitting on my sofa YELLING AT THE TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next week I will be camping with my son and his Boy Scouts. At first, I was pissed because I was going to miss the UGA vs. South Carolina game, but now I think the last thing I want to do is watch the Dawgs get beat by Spurrier...

Saturday 9/5

I have already had a few calls today asking if we will be open on Saturday, Sept. 5. Yes, I will be here for our normal Saturday hours, 10:00am to 5:00pm. We will be closed Sunday 9/6 as always, and also closed Monday 9/7 for Labor Day. I will be back in the store Tuesday morning at 10:00am. Some people have expressed their sympathies to me for having to work on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, but I am secretly glad. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!!!!!! I want to watch football all day, but at home I have 4 kids yelling and crawling all over me, but at the store, I can watch it in peace, even while helping customers. So, yes, I'll be here -- with the TV ON!!!!!!!!

Falcon Bay Shipment

I finally got in the Falcon Bay shipment that has been close to 10 weeks in the making!! I now have a good supply of the all elastic waist twill pants with the zipper fly, four pockets, and belt loops. I got in khaki, navy, and black in sizes 44 to 66 waist. I also got in a decent supply of pocket T-shirts from 2XTall to 8X. There are also a few western shirts and banded bottom shirts. Hurry in before it is all gone!!

Port Authority 10X Shirt

I have recently been getting more and more in from Port Authority. Today I got in a black polo style shirt in size 10X. It looks like a good cut. They do a good variety of colors from small to 10X. UGA Caviar

Check out the article in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution Metro section about the new UGA Caviar! I have actually know about this for a while because most of not all of the UGA Caviar is produced by sturgeon at the UGA Fishery in Cohutta, GA, managed by my brother-in-law Shane. I don't even know if I have ever had caviar, but hopefully I can get some from him, as it can be very expensive. If I taste any, I'll let you know. The 3/50 Project

There have been some articles in the newspapers recently that I have seen discussing The 3/50 Project. The idea is for everybody to try to spend a total of $50 a month at at least 3 different locally owned businesses every month. They give some interesting statistics regarding spending your money at locally owned businesses:

• For every $100 spent in a locally owned business, $68 of it is returned back to the local economy.
• For every $100 spent at a national chain, only $43 stays local.
• For every $100 spent online, nothing stays local.

Their number make sense, and just in case you don't know, Leiter's Big and Tall and Leiter's Uniforms are locally owned businesses!!

I always try to visit local businesses when I can, especially restaurants. The local restaurants always seem to be by far the best.

A show I've gotten really into lately is Man v. Food an the Travel Channel. The host, Adam Richman, went to Emory University, and goes to different cities around the country and visits popular local restaurants and takes on various food eating challenges. Sushi Bites and Levi's

I finally made it to Sushi Bites last night. I had a good assortment of sushi, and it really filled me up. They still do not have their alcohol license yet, and I really like sushi and beer, so I plan on going back when they get it. The owner said they expected it to take two weeks to be approved, and they are now at 4 1/2 weeks and counting. He hoped it would be no more than two more weeks away. Dockers Shorts

I just got in a decent sized shipment of Dockers shorts. There are different colors and varieties, including pleated, flat front, and the BackSwing Golf shorts with the Modern Comfort Waistband (translation - hidden side stretch). The colors are stone, khaki, navy, olive and black. FORE!!

Levi's and Dockers

I just got in two shipments, one is Levi's jeans, and the other is the Custom Fit Dockers. Custom Fit is the pants with the hidden side stretch, and a very good seller for us.

Three Shipments

I just got in three different shipments. The first is from Pointer Brand, and it is mostly their carpenter work jeans. The Pointer jeans are by far the fullest cut with the longest rise of any pant we have in the store. There are also a few pair of overalls in the shipment. The second shipment is another box of Dockers pants, and the third is another shipment of IZOD shirts.

I did get another shipment of Palm Beach Reflex dress pants, this time in khaki and gray.

I just got in the first of what should be a few shipments of the Palm Beach Reflex dress pants. This shipment had black and dark gray pants. The Reflex line is really a great seller because the pants all have the hidden side elastic waistband.

There is an interesting article in today's AJC about obesity surgery being linked to increased risk of bone fractures. I have always thought that the surgery would probably have long term negative health effects, and that I might not be the "cure all" that some thought it was. I just got in a shipment of Perry Suspenders, which are always a good seller for us. These are suspenders that clip on your belt, thus giving a more secure grip and greater holding power. I got in mostly solid colors, but some prints, including an American Flag print.

I finally got in the IZOD shipment I have been looking for. I got in solid IZOD golf shirts from XL Tall up to 6X Tall, and 3X Big to 6X Big. I also got in the IZOD pants in khaki, olive, and navy, from 44 waist to 54 waist. These pants are pleated with the hidden side elastic, and have always been a great seller for us.

I just got in two boxes full of Players Underwear in all sizes, styles, and colors. They go from 2X to 7X in bigs and talls, including briefs, boxers, crew neck and V neck undershirts, athletic shirts, and mid-lenth briefs.

Whole Hawg Happenin' BBQ and Music Festival

I just saw an interesting event listed in today paper. On Saturday, May 16 from 11Am to 7PM, check out The Whole Hawg Happenin' BBQ and Music Festival at Six Flags White Water on Cobb Parkway in Marietta. This is not far from our store. This event will benefit the Cobb County Boys and Girls Clubs, and will feature BBQ cooking demonstrations and other attractions. Featured participants include former Atlanta Brave Otis Nixon, restauranteur and customer Sam Huff, local band Banks and Shane, and many more. I think I may have to check this out!! Mmmmmmmm, BBQ............

Wing and Rock Fest

Last year, I went to the Wing and Rock Fest on the Marietta Square, and it was great. Think "The Taste of Marietta", but without all the crowd. I love wings, and my kids had a blast in the Kid Zone. So, here's a great idea for a double-header day on May 30 -- as I posted on May 5, we are having our Parking Lot Garage Sale from 9 - 2, and the Wing Fest opens at 1:30. Two New Websites

Just to add to my confusion, I now have two more websites, bringing my total to five. Frequently, when people call me, they will say "I am looking at your website..." and I have to stop them to ask "Which website?"

Hawaiian Shirt and T-Shirt Sets

I just got in a really great looking group of shirts. There are two colors of prints in the Hawaiian style, blue and tan. There are also four different colors of T-shirts that all match the Hawaiian shirts. The T-shirts come in black (although it really looks more like a dark green), tan, a muted orange, and a medium blue. There are also two different styles -- crew neck with a pocket or Henley style, with three buttons. What a great summer set!!

I just got in a big shipment of mostly shorts from Greystone. The range is from 54 waist up to 10X, in all different colors and styles like cargo and regular shorts in denim or twill, and some sweat shorts.

I just got in a shipment of fatigue shorts from our military supply company. They are solid colors and camo prints in cargo style up to size 5X.

Black Hawk Down!!

I had a great time camping this weekend with my family and many others from Pack 700 www.scouting.org.  The highlight for me was the visit from a Black Hawk medical helicopter.  As pictured, I tried to fly it away, but it turns out the you actually need to know how to fly one to be able to fly one...  Big thanks go out to Matthew and Jennifer Smith and all the many others who make it all possible!!

I finally got around to reading the March 23, 2009 edition of my Sports Illustrated, and on page 108, there is a quote from our customer Chuck Nevitt regarding steroids. At 7'5" tall, Chuck went to Sprayberry High School down the street and played for a number of years in the NBA. He still has family in Marietta, so he shops here when he comes into town.

How 'Bout Them DAWGS!! The UGA Baseball team www.georgiadogs.com is looking pretty good! They are still ranked in the Top 5, and they won another game last night (although is was kind of a nail-biter in the ninth inning). I have been wanting to go to a game for a while now, and since it has been probably 16 or 17 years since I last went to a baseball game in Athens, I was wondering if anybody has been to a game recently? Big Shipment

We just got in a BIG shipment from Cotton Traders. It is mostly really nice Hawaiian style shirts and also some Camp shirts. There are some silk and some cotton shirts. There are also some solid golf shirts and T-shirts, and some swimsuits from 1X to 6X. We have been out of swimsuits for a while, so it is nice to have stock again. The silk shirts are really nice and, of course being silk, they are expensive. So, here I am marking them in and thinking to myself "Why did I order these six months ago -- now we are knee deep in a recession. Are these ever going to sell? Will anybody pay $70.00 for these?" And then someone just came in and likes fancy shirts, so I showed the new shipment to him, and he bought two of the silk shirts. So -- now I have a good start, and Yes, people are still willing to pay for what they want, especially for items that are hard to find. Have a great weekend!!

Enro Shipment

I just got in a pretty big Enro shipment http://www.enro.com full of mostly nice short sleeve button up plaid shirts, but also some hard collar golf shirts, and also some nice new Enro Tech shirts. Enro Tech are moisture-wicking shirts that are designed to be breathable and cool next to your skin. Also, there is a fresh supply of the knit sweat shorts with cargo pockets. These are a very good seller for me, and they only come in once a year, so if you need some, hurry in!!

I made a few changes to this blog. In Memory of Ashli

This is in memory of Ashli Fisher Holley, who tragically had her life cut short Monday night in a car crash on Cobb Parkway. Ashli was a business associate of mine and a truly beautiful person. She leaves behind a husband and young son. Ashli -- you will be missed.

Busy Day!!

The arrival of the cold weather brought out a lot of buyers and shipments!! I was so busy I didn't have time to post here. So, yesterday we got in a big shipment from our military supply company which included mostly cargo fatigue pants in black, khaki, and camo, sizes 2X to 7X. There were also some cargo shorts and camo thermal henley shirts. I also got in a shipment of Dockers cargo pants. And I got in a shipment of sleeveless t-shirts (good timing for a 20 degree day!), and also some t-shirts with no pockets. I also got in a shipment from Greystone that has various item including t-shirts, jeans, jersey sweatpants, fleece cargo sweatpants, twill pants, and golf shirts.

I also wanted to congratulate Kennestone Heart Physicians Group www.kennestoneheart.com for being honored for the second year in a row as one of the top cardiovascular medical practices in the country!! The award, given by the Medical Group Management Association www.mgma.com, is only given to the top 253 out of 13,500 in the country!! Congrats to Kennestone Heart!!

Just a reminder that I am open today, Monday, Tuesday, and the rest of the week. People have been asking if we are going to be closed on Monday for MLK Day, but we will be open. The only day we are closed is Sunday.

Dawgs Gone!!

Well, it's official -- not that it is that big of a surprise. Stafford and Moreno -- GONE... I really can't say that I blame them. I might have done the same thing myself. To Stafford -- good luck in 0-16 Detroit, and to Moreno -- good luck in all -- I hope you aren't too small for the NFL. Oh, and good luck to the Dawgs for 2009 -- we'll need it now...

Did you see the UGA vs. Ga Tech basketball game last night? If not, then you made the right choice. I have seen better talent at a middle school game! When considering games like last night, it should be possible for both teams to get the loss!

More Thermals

We got in the second half of our thermal underwear shipment late yesterday, so we now have a full stock of tops and bottoms!

Dawgs and Falcons

It was a good way to end the season. Yet again, the game was a tale of two halves. The defense did play well through the whole game, but the offense only showed up for the second half. Will that be it for Stafford and Moreno? Now we need a Falcons win tomorrow!!
