Priorities

A man's gotta have priorities, right?

So, here's the deal. UGA plays in the Liberty Bowl starting at 3:30pm on New Year's Eve. The game is on ESPN, and we don't have cable here at the store. normally, New Year's Eve is not very busy, especially later in the day. I guess people are getting ready to go out instead of getting ready to shop. Seeing as how this is the last UGA football game of the year, I would like to watch it; therefore, I am officially posting opening hours of 10:00am to 3:00pm in Friday, December 31. That way, I can make it home in time to watch the game. Like I said -- priorities...

Christmas Eve

Blizzard?

Are you ready for the Blizzard of 2010? OK, I don't think it is going to snow that much, so why not come in and SHOP!?! My father said he will OPEN from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, December 12, so feel free to come in and make sure he is awake. Actually, he will probably be watching the Atlanta Falcons game, which is what I will also be watching at home with my son!

I just got in two boxes full of underwear from Players. I got about every style, from briefs, boxers & mid-length briefs to crew neck, V-neck, & athletic T-shirts. I got sizes from 2X to 6X, in bigs and talls.

Atlanta Falcons T-shirts

I finally was able to get some big sized Atlanta Falcons shirts ordered. I will hopefully get them next week. I ordered all new styles that I have never had before, so I will be interested to see them. I should have about 6 or 7 different styles and colors in T-shirts, one style of a polo shirt, and also a lounge pant. Most of them should be from size 2X up to 6X. I'll post here when they come in!

Falcons!!

How about those Atlanta Falcons!! Looking good and taking care of business!! I had family come into town for the Thanksgiving holiday, and they stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in Buckhead. We went to go hang out with them last night, and while we were there, the whole Green Bay Packers team checked in. Woven Stretch Belts

I just got in a shipment of the woven stretch belts that I have been carrying for years. I got in black, navy, and khaki. They are from 1X to 5X.

Also, I have had quite a few people ask about my wife's leg. She is much better, still in some pain, but she is back to work and finally off of the crutches.

Thermal Underwear

I just got in a shipment of thermal underwear. They are all the off-white color, and they are in bigs and talls, from size LT up to 8X in tops and bottoms. Cold weather is here, so come in to keep warm!

IZOD 5X & 6X

I just got in another IZOD shipment that has most of the same items that I got in the previous IZOD shipment (long sleeve pullover shirts, sweatshirts, and argyle sweater vests), but this entire shipment was just 5X and 6X, so we a nice range of sizes!

GA/FLA

I'm here working today. I'll be here until 5:00. I'll also be watching SEC football. I think UGA has the better team right now, but FLA had a bye week last week... What will happen?

What a week...

Wow, what a week. One week ago today, my wife was leaving for work. As she was about to back out of the driveway, our cat jumped up on her hood. She opened the door and stepped out to shoo him away, but forgot that she had already put the van in reverse. The van started rolling backwards and knocked her down and then rolled over her leg. It kept going, but luckily our house was there to stop it. I came home to take her to the ER, and all of the doctors were amazed that she miraculously did not break any bones. We had a follow up visit to an orthopaedic doctor on Monday, and they were even more amazed that she had no tendon or ligament damage. They said to stay off her feet for a couple of weeks, and she should heal up just fine. Now, the van and the house -- that's a different story... So, if you came by here last Thursday and wondered why we were closed in the morning and early afternoon, that is why. The moral of this story is -- make sure your car is in park before you get out!

I just got in a big shipment of terry cloth robes. They go from size 1X up to size 6X, in bigs or talls. I got in black, white, and burgundy.

IZOD

I just got through processing the IZOD shipment, and it has some really nice clothing. There are some long sleeve solid pullover polo style shirts, solid color fleece crew neck sweatshirts, and some very nice sweater vests with an conservative argyle print. These will help keep you warm and you will look nice at the same time!!

I just got in a small shipment of Fire Retardant shirts from Bulwark. If you use Bulwark, there may be some backorder issues. In a strange twist of irony, the plant that manufactures the fire retardant material had a fire! So, there are some shortages until the new material gets made.

Enro Dress Shirts

I just got in another shipment of dress shirts from Enro. This shipment had some white, but the majority was blue stripe and burgundy stripe shirts. I don't get too many stripes in any more, so this gives me a better variety. I also got in something new -- a 24 neck from Enro!! I have never before got an Enro 24 neck dress shirt, but they sent the burgundy stripe in short sleeve and long sleeve. 24 neck is very hard to find, so if you need it, come and get it while I have it!

I'm Still Laughing

There's a OB/GYN next door to us, and it is just the male doctor and then an all female staff. Last night, a squirrel chewed a hole through his roof and landed in his office. This morning, they came over to ask for my help because the squirrel was still running around the office. The end result was that we opened the back door and directed the squirrel out there, but in the chasing time, the yells and shrieks and jumping on counters by the female staff was funnier and more entertaining than any sit-com could ever be!!

I try not to put too much political talk on here, but my wife might kick me out of the house if I don't spread the word. Pointer Jeans

I just got in a shipment of more work jeans from Pointer. These are great full cut long rise jeans that still continue to sell very well, and they are MADE IN AMERICA!! I got in sizes 44 waist up to 70 waist.

I just got a fill-in shipment of the Angler shorts from Wrangler. These are a good seller for us, and they feature side elastic and partially sewn down pleats.

Leather Belts

I just got in a small replenishment shipment of belts, so I have a good stock now. These are all MADE IN AMERICA, 100% leather, and some are black, some are brown, and some are reversible black/brown. I have sizes from 40 waist up to 80 waist!!

Cargo Pants

I just got in a shipment of military style cargo fatigue pants. I got in a few different solid colors, and also camo. There was mostly 4X, 5X, and 6X in the shipment, but some bigger and some smaller sizes.

I just got in a small shipment of a few more Enro dress shirts, mostly white, but some french blue.

To Cuff or Not To Cuff

That is the question...

I have this conversation with customers all the time. When hemming pants, I almost always ask "Cuff or regular hem?" Some people, of course, know exactly what they want. But others frequently respond with "What do you think?" or "What is more stylish?" So, here are my thoughts:

We always have and still continue to do more regular hems than cuffs. Some people love cuffs, and some people hate cuffs. Some people consider cuffs to be a little dressier, therefore wanting them on dress pants, suit pants, or cotton pants that they are dressing up. I will tell people that if you don't care what type of hem you get, then just get a regular hem.

Now, here are my personal thoughts -- I don't like cuffs. They look like you rolled up your pants -- how does that look dressier? Cuffs were very big with the golfers a few years ago, but that didn't last very long once they found out that cuffs catch a lot of sand, grass clippings, dirt, leaves, rocks, and anything else small enough to fit inside a turned up cuff. When they got home at the end of the day, they had to clean all of that out of their cuffs. I hardly ever recommend cuffs to anyone, mostly because I hardly ever wear cuffs myself. I have one pair of khaki pants that I bought off-the-rack, pre-hemmed with cuffs, and they always sit in my closet and only get worn if they are my last clean pair of pants.

So, the moral of this debate is: If you want cuffs, I'll do it, and they are stylishly acceptable, but I don't recommend them.

Greystone

I just got in a shipment from Greystone of mostly the light weight jersey sweat pants in black, navy, and light grey from 2X up to 10X. These are a great year-round material that also have no elastic down at the ankles. They are a great seller for us!!

I just got in two big boxes full of underwear from Players, so I've got a pretty good stock right now.

4th of July Hours

I have already had a few calls about our OPEN hours for the next few days, so they are:

Today and Friday - OPEN 10:00 - 6:00
Saturday - OPEN 10:00 - 5:00
Sunday - 4th of July - CLOSED
Monday - OPEN 10:00 - 6:00

Basically, we are open our normal business hours. We will make no changes to our hours for this 4th of July holiday time period. I have heard of many businesses that will close early Friday, and be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but I will just be closed Sunday.

I tell people that we are usually closed on real holidays, and OPEN on fake holidays. For instance, we are closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, etc., but we are open on Monday July 5th, the day after Thanksgiving, President's Day, and other holidays that are just excuses for the banks and post offices to be closed.

So, I'll be here every day except Sunday if you need some new clothes!!

Wrangler

I just got in a pretty big shipment from Wrangler. It is mostly jeans, but there are some cotton pants and shorts. Have you tried their Flex Denim jeans? It is now probably our best selling jean, and now I have a good stock, including the difficult to find 28 lengths!

Pocket T-shirts

I just got in a good sized shipment of solid colored pocket T-shirts from XL Tall up to 6X Tall, and 2X Big up to 6X Big.

Berne Jeans

I just got in a small shipment of jeans from Berne. These are really good fitting jeans that are not very expensive. I usually get a good amount of shipments from them during the cold weather months, but usually only one during hot weather months, so this may be my last shipment for a while. So, if you wear these jeans, come on in while I have them!!

LD Sport All Elastic Pants

I have been waiting for these for a few weeks, and have had quite a number of calls about them, and they finally arrived! I just got in the shipment of the LD Sport all elastic waist twill pants. These have belt loops and a button and zipper fly, and I got in black, navy, khaki, and denim from 1X up to 7X. Get them while I have them -- they will go fast!!

Dockers

The Levi's shipments continue, with today bringing a good sized shipment of Dockers (made by Levi's). I got in 36 waist up to 58 waist, mostly khaki, but some olive, navy, and black. Some of them have the hidden side stretch, and a few are just a regular waistband. The lengths vary from 30 to 38. There were also a few khaki shorts in the shipment.

Action Slacks

It looks like Levi's shipments are coming my way, because I just got in a shipment of more Levi's Action Slacks. These are great dressy pants with a little bit of stretch to them. They have a light grey color that will also work for umpire pants, because a customer just bought a pair for that reason.

I just got in a good sized shipment of jeans from Levi's. I got in waist sizes from 36 up to 60.

Dickies

I just got in a special order of Dickies work pants. I don't really stock alot of Dickies, but I can do special orders for work clothes or medical uniforms.

These are a great seller for us, because unlike most other sleeveless T's that just have the sleeves cut off, the Sovereign brand is cuffed at the shoulders. Suits

Wow, what a crazy week for suits!! I sold more suits this past week than I did in the month before!! I just want to remind everybody that I can order just about any size up to around 72 in chest and waist, and I keep a decent stock from sizes 50 up to 70 (72 in blazers). If I don't have what you want in stock, I can order it and it will come in about 2 days. Another option that I have is the Palm Beach Reflex suits. These are made with a stretch lining inside the coat, and the pants have the hidden side stretch waist band that is growing more and more popular. The Palm Beach suits usually come in about 10 days when ordered. So, if you need to get dressed up, come on in and we will suit you up!!

Memorial Day Schedule

Around now is when I usually start getting the calls about our Memorial Day hours.

We will be open normal hours Friday 10am to 6pm, and Saturday 10am to 5pm.

We will be closed on Sunday as normal.

I will be OPEN on Monday for Memorial Day starting at 1:00pm. I will not be here all day, but only for about one hour, so if you would like to come in, please shoot for the 1:00 - 2:00 range.

We will reopen on Tuesday with our normal business hours 10am to 6pm.

Atlanta area. We used to get alot of wardrobe people in looking for costumes for their movies, but I haven't had any lately. I just got in a great looking shipment of new polo style shirts. There are two different prints in the shipment, car prints and fishing prints. They come in sizes 2X to 4X, in bigs and talls. I have already sold one, so I am sure that they will go fast!!

Free Concert - Brother Whitlock / Mission: D.A.D.

This Saturday, May 22, 2010, there will be a FREE concert featuring Brother Whitlock starting at 5pm in the park at the Marietta First United Methodist Church. This concert will accept donations to benefit Mission: D.A.D., a non-profit group dedicated to raising awareness of diabetes, diabetic alert dogs, and transparent living. Bring a blanket and chairs, and grilled and baked foods will be available for purchase starting at 6pm. I have been a part of the organizing committee for Mission: D.A.D. from the beginning, and I have just been lucky enough to be asked to be on the Board of Directors for the Non-Profit! Dress Pants

I just got in a shipment of dress pants. These are Palm Beach Reflex, which are the style with the hidden stretch in the side. I got in waist sizes from 42 to 58 in dark and light colors.

More Underwear

I got in yet another box of underwear today, so I think we are pretty much at 100% stock right now.

Falcon Bay Shirts

I just got in a shipment of Falcon Bay polo style shirts. These have a conservative pattern that are black based or burgandyish based, and come in sizes 2X up to 8X, including some talls!!

Hanes Underwear

I just got in 5 boxes of underwear from Hanes, so I now am about at 95% stock.

Players Underwear

I just got in a shipment of more Players Underwear, but I did not get everything that I ordered, so I am about at 80% full stock on underwear.

Landau Scrub Zone

I just got in a Landau shipment, which has more wine colored Scrub Zone. I have had a few employees of Marietta Eye Clinic looking for more, so now I have some!

Greystone

I got in a miscellaneous shipment from Greystone Big and Tall. It had a nice mix of golf shirts, sweat shorts, sweat pants, and jeans. Greystone is a great brand!

Marietta Dermatology

Last night, Marietta Dermatology had their Open House to show off their brand new building. Marietta Dermatology is a customer of mine, but I am also a patient (hasn't everybody in Marietta been there at some point?). Their new building is right across the street from me, and it certainly is nice. I was able to get the grand tour, and even had some good food catered by Willie Rae's. When people call me and ask for directions to my store, my frequent response is "We are next to Marietta Dermatology" and then they know exactly where we are.

Hawaiian Shirts

I just got in another box full of more Hawaiian shirts. Half of them are all silk, and half of them are cotton.

24 Neck Dress Shirts

I just got in a small shipment of white Falcon Bay long sleeve dress shirts with a 24 neck and a 35/36 sleeve in big sizes. There are button down and non-button down collars. These are hard to come by, so if you need one, come on in or give me a call -- I can ship them to you!

LD Sport Shorts

I got in a shipment of the popular LD Sport cargo sweat shorts that always sell so well for us. I got in size 2X up to 6X, in black, navy, dark grey, and light grey. I only get these in one time per year, so hurry while supplies last!!

I just got in a good sized shipment of more Enro and Damon dress shirts. Enro is now putting the Damon label on some of their dress shirts and sport shirts, so if you come in asking for Enro and I show you Damon, it is the same thing.

Is print dead? I have been talking with my AT&T rep. about renewing my advertising. Does anybody look at the Yellow Pages anymore? If you are searching for a business, when was the last time you opened up the phone book? Do you do all of your searching online now?

72 Long

All of the sudden, size 72 Long suits have become our best selling size! Someone ordered one two weeks ago, and then when I was out of town, my father sold it to someone else. I re-ordered it when i got back, and then someone else just came in and tried it on and ordered a different color in the same size. That's three 72 Long suits in two weeks. The point being, if you need a large size suit, I either have it or can get it.

Elastic Waist Cargo Shorts

Are you ready for some warmer weather? I just got a shipment of elastic waist twill cargo shorts in MEN'S SIZES -- from 5X to 10X. The come in black, olive, and denim.

Where have I been?

It has been a while since I posted. We were very busy in February, and then I actually took my first vacation in two years and hauled the wife and kids to Disney in Orlando for just over a week!! We all had a great time. The weather was warm and the kids were super excited about seeing Mickey Mouse. My father actually had to work for over one week straight, so if you came in to see him, thanks for making sure he was still alive. Now here I am back at work and playing catch-up...

Busy, Busy

I gotta tell ya...

The media has given some reports that the economy is recovering, and I can for sure say that I have seen the same signs. I haven't been able to post here as much just simply because I have been nice and busy recently. Good stuff, I am glad things seem to be coming back around, so now let's all keep it up!!

And how about Team USA Hockey beating Canada!! That was probably about the best and hardest played hockey game that I have seen in a long, long time!! USA, USA!!

New Ties

I just got in a new shipment of extra long all silk ties. This time we requested to only get stripes and conservative patterns in black, grey, red, and burgundy. They look great!!

Actually, what it is called now is the Professional Look Book. Whatever you call it, I just got in the new handouts from Landau. This season now includes the Scrub Zone styles as well. They also sent the New Looks brochure. If you want one (or more), come on by and check out all of the new styles!!

Common Misconception

I just want to clear up a common misconception that happens all the time. This frequently happens when people are trying to find us for the first time. We are located on Church Street Extension. That is not Church Street. Church Street Extension and Church Street are two different roads. They intersect, but the are not the same. I always get people who call and say "I see you are on Church Street. Is that near the hospital?" I say "We are actually on Church Street Extension. It is a different road than Church Street. It intersects in between the hospital and 75." Then one hour later, they call back and say "I've been driving up and down Church Street for an hour and I can't find you! Where are you?" Just to recap -- We are on Church Street Extension, not Church St. -- different roads...

White Gloves

I have already had a few people in today looking for white gloves for Cotillion. I have plenty in stock. The people in have said that there are a lot of people looking for these. They also work well for marching bands, church groups, ladies groups, military, and any others who may need white cotton gloves.

Nike and Ping

I just got in a small amount of Nike golf shirts, and also a medium amount of Ping golf shirts and jackets.

We are OPEN today until 6:00pm. We just got in a shipment of Liberty overalls and Pointer carpenter jeans. Hee Haw!!

I just got in a big shipment of Chef Coats that are slightly imperfect. Most are regularly priced $19.99, and because they are irregulars, they are sold at HALF PRICE!! So, most will start at $9.99. I got in mostly size small to XL, but there are some up to 5X. The imperfection on these white coats is usually very small, most of the time just a spot or a small stitching error.
